The personal details of all the licensed medical doctors in Puerto Rico have been reportedly stolen by cybercriminals.

There are few details about this incident, but according to the Associated Press, Puertorican College of Physicians & Surgeons President Eduardo Ibarra revealed that the FBI and the Puerto Rico Justice Department had been asked to investigate.

Ibarra says medical doctors have been receiving harassing emails ever since the organization’s systems were breached.

It’s uncertain what type of information has been compromised, but the official has revealed that the attackers can misuse it for identity theft and to submit fake prescriptions.

It’s uncertain how many doctors have been impacted, but DataBreaches.net has found an older AP article which reveals that there are close to 10,000 physicians in Puerto Rico.
