In an attempt to make ice cream a healthy product and perhaps convince people to sneak more vegetables into their diets, Haagen-Dazs has announced plans to release two new dessert flavors in Japan. Although they might not make your mouth water, the experimental ice creams, called “Spoon Vege,” will combine vegetables with dairy.

Instead of candy bars, creamy caramel or exotic fruits, the new unconventional ice creams will make you eat vegetables for dessert, as they will be available in Tomato Cherry and Carrot Orange.

According to the company, the first one combines the sweetness of tomato paste with the fruity flavor of cherry juice, while Carrot Orange mixes carrots juice with the taste of fresh citrus. Both flavors will debut in Japan starting with May 12, and will cost $2.80 (€2) per container.

Moreover, Rocket News tells us that each carton will have roughly 8.5% milk fat, which is half what Haagen-Dazs products usually contain. To me, this seems like a deceiving way of leading people to believe that they are eating somehow healthier, but after all, it's still ice cream.

I cannot help but wonder what the result of this daring combination will be. Is it going to make people love vegetables or just ruining the sweet treat?
