HTC also rolled out a video teaser for its upcoming event

By now you are probably aware that HTC will be holding a big event in New York on October 8, under the “Double Exposure” banner.

Since we’re just a week ahead of the big occurrence, HTC is inciting the audience by releasing a new teaser video which mysteriously states that “Something remarkable is coming.”

Which brings back memories of ASUS, that teased “Something incredible is coming” in anticipation of its CES 2014 presentation.

HTC's GoPro alternative gets named

Has HTC gone out of ideas? Hopefully not. Anyway, one of the devices we expect to see come out from the device marker is a GoPro-style action shooting camera. And the video HTC just released does seem to hint at this particular life-logging companion.

In the video we’re not shown the device per-se, but we can draw a few conclusion. The soon-to-be announced product will be waterproof and capable of shooting slow-motion videos. It does sound like the GoPro clone we’ve talked about a few days ago, doesn’t it?

Well, according to snoopy folks from Reddit who managed to get their claws on a bunch of images showing the camera, the new GoPro competitor will be called the ReCamera.

The pictures have been pulled from the official HTC website, where they have “accidentally” been posted ahead of the official launch.

Naturally, since then the images have been taken off, but we still managed to get our hands on them. Interestingly, the camera looks quite strange.

Say hi to the HTC's PVC Pipe camera

From what we can see in the picture, it seems reminiscent of a PVC pipe or a submarine vent pipe with a camera lens attached to one side. The shutter button is living just below it.

The camera seems to be mountable and one of the pictures shows a woman taking a selfie with it, something which is not out of the ordinary considering selfie-modules have made their way in lots of consumer electronics products.

Details about the upcoming HTC camera are quite light at the moment, but we do know the device should arrive with a 16MP sensor, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. The device should be able to connect Android and iOS devices via a companion app.

Recent rumors have indicated the Nexus 9 tablet might be one of the products to be unveiled by HTC during the same event, but yesterday’s news crushed this possibility.

Apparently, the much-awaited tablet will be introduced by Google on October 15 or October 16 alongside Android L.
