A few days ago, rumors on the possible upcoming availability of a new HTC smartphone running under Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system emerged, pointing at the possible inclusion of a 16MP camera in the mix, and some more details on the matter are available now, it seems. According to new reports, the handset would indeed be on its way to the market in the near future, and a photo that was allegedly taken with it has made an appearance on Picasa.

Apparently, the photo was taken by a HTC employee who came to America. The shot was taken in Washington, D.C. across the Potomac River towards Virginia, a recent article on Pocketnow reads.

The photo is labeled “HDR test,” and the info available on it shows that it was indeed taken with the said 16MP smartphone from HTC.

While no official announcement on the matter emerged for the time being, rumor has it that the new device might be codenamed Doubleshot, and that it might be on its way to the market on T-Mobile's airwaves.

Moreover, the handset was suggested to sport a QWERTY keyboard, complemented by a WVGA touchscreen display and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor.

Other rumored specs of this device would include the fact that it might sport model number PG58100, which points at Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n capabilities packed inside it.

At the same time, the device is rumored to have been already benchmarked over at Smartphone Benchmarks, and that it might actually launch on shelves with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board.

All these should be taken with a grain of salt, since the handset's existence is only a rumor for the time being, but more info on it should emerge soon, and we'll be able to learn whether it would indeed sport the said high-quality camera or not. Keep an eye on this space for updates.
