PhoneNews delivers Windows Mobile 6.1 OS to HTC Touch users

The highly anticipated update for the HTC Touch, also known as the XV6900, is still to be released, even though this has been one of the main complains regarding this device, mainly because these updates have already been released in the States on all HTC Touch phones. Instead of waiting for the official version from HTC, users can now upgrade their mobiles from PhoneNews, using, of course, the unreleased version.

If you should choose to use the “false” version available on PhoneNews, you must know that it is for Windows users only. Moreover, before performing the update, we strongly recommend you back up all the information on your mobile, unless you wish to risk losing it. Also, make sure that you have removed the SIM card and charged your device, or else the blockage of your phone is inevitable.

After upgrading, your device will be operating on Windows Mobile 6.1 and EV-DO Rev A will also be available for your usage. In addition, the VZ Navigator system will ensure your GPS positioning at all times, thanks to Verizon's navigation services.

These navigation applications are to be available only for clients who will get the update from Verizon, but unless you wish to wait for who knows how long, you should be able to get access to the GPS service using the bypassing system that is available for the XV6800 version. We must also mention that this update will be bringing Opera Mobile to your phone as well.

Hopefully, this article has given most unsatisfied XV6900 owners the information needed to make a choice as regards using the unreleased version, or waiting for HTC and Verizon to bring to their customers the official update.
