No flagship coming out of HTC during the Las Vegas event

A few days before CES 2015 opens its gates, HTC sent out a teaser for its special press event in Las Vegas that is scheduled to take place on January 5.

I was telling you that we weren't yet sure whether HTC would take this opportunity to introduce its next-gen flagship, Hima (previously known as the One M9).

Well, we now have information indicating this will not be the case. So Hima will probably be announced during a standalone event after CES 2015 or at MWC 2015 in February.

No Hima coming at CES 2015

@Upleaks draws our attention to an image posted on the official HTC Weibo page, which obviously refers to CES 2015.

The new teaser invites us to “Always Desire more” and spells Desire, with a capital “D.” So you probably know what this means, HTC will be coming to Las Vegas with a bunch of new Desire smartphones in its goodie bag.

HTC Hima’s launch at CES was a long shot anyway. Traditionally, the company has introduced its flagship devices like the One and One (M8) prior to the MWC event, somewhere between February and March.

So there you have it, folks, some new Desire phones are coming our way soon. One of them probably already leaked online, in the form of the HTC A-12.

This is a mid-range device coming with a 4.7-inch 720p display and a Snapdragon 410 processor under the hood. The rest of the specifications include 1GB of RAM, 8MP camera and a decent 2100 mAh battery.

The handset will most likely be powered by Android 4.4 KitKat and will have Sense UI on top. HTC A12 has been said to be made available with AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon in the US.
