We reported yesterday that HTC is working on a Flyer follow up, which is supposed to be announced sometime this year.

In fact, sources close to the matter claim that HTC does not want to hurry with the release of the slate, instead it will come out with the new product when it has something “unique” to offer.

Given the fact that the tablet is still a work in progress, it’s hard to get accurate information on its specs sheet, especially that these are usually subject to change.

However, it looks like at least a few details on the next HTC Flyer tablet have just surfaced via NenaMark2 benchmark. Obviously, there’s no telling if these specs are indeed related to the HTC Flyer sequel, but it surely looks so.

Firstly, the device is dubbed HTC Vertex and boasts a hyper-vibrant HD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (1280 x 752 pixels) resolution.

In addition, the slate is equipped with an Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset that features a 1.3 GHz quad-core CPU.

There is no info on the amount of memory or storage space, but the benchmark mentions HTC Vertex is powered by Google’s Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

Obviously, there’s a high chance that HTC will want to launch the Vertex tablet with the latest version of Google’s mobile platform, namely Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

For the time being, it’s unclear if the HTC Vertex is a 10-incher, or it will be aimed at budget-friendly tablet market, which means it will sport a much smaller 7-inch display.

It is also worth mentioning that the next HTC Flyer tablet will probably make its debut in the UK initially, but we expect it to be rolled out globally soon afterwards. There are no other details on the tablet’s specs sheet yet, but stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
