Three of the HTC handsets available currently on the market in Malaysia with Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system on board will soon receive an update to the latest flavor of the platform, 6.5, the Taiwanese mobile phone maker announced today. According to the company, the newly purchased HTC Touch Pro2, Touch Diamond2 and Snap are to receive an update to the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system in the near future, while already updated variants of these devices will be launched on the market before the end of October.

“HTC is pleased to be integrating the new enhancements and services available on Windows phones with four leading HTC phones, this is a testament to the strong partnership HTC and Microsoft have,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. “The HTC Touch2, Touch Pro2, Touch Diamond2 and Snap offer compelling choices to a variety of people looking for an advanced phone that is simple to use.”

The company, as many of you might already know, has also announced today the launch of its HTC Touch2 Windows phone into the country, and now it comes to compete the offering of handsets running under Windows Mobile 6.5 both with new variants of already popular smartphones, as well as with updates that will reach already purchased units. The handset vendor has announced that updates for the aforementioned devices will come as free downloads on the HTC e-Club.

Each of the new devices will come with its own distinctive features, as well as with support for new services from Microsoft. The HTC Touch Pro2 has been mainly designed for business professionals, and delivers a powerful productivity experience. The HTC Touch Diamond2 comes with advanced touch features. HTC Snap sports its unique Inner Circle that delivers important emails at the top of the inbox, while the new Touch2 is meant to offer an easy touch experience to any user.

“Windows phones are for people who want to get the most out of life. People who want to work hard and play hard, and not compromise either. What they need is a phone that helps them make the most of every moment – simplifying life, enriching experiences, and giving them more options, wherever they are,” said Andy Lees, senior vice president, Mobile Communication Business, Microsoft Corp. “The HTC innovation in their portfolio of new Windows phones gives customers the ability to choose a great phone in the design that suits their individual needs and style.”

HTC Touch2, Touch Diamond2, Touch Pro2 and Snap will become available with Windows Mobile 6.5 at all carriers and authorized dealers. HTC e-Club members will be notified as soon as the WM 6.5 updates are available for their Wm 6/1-based handsets, the company added.
