Sprint subscribers who own an HTC Touch Diamond mobile phone are now offered a new ROM update for their devices, the 2.00.651.7, which comes with a series of improvements over the previous version, while also including some bug fixes meant to enhance the user experience.

Among the improvements available with the new ROM update for Touch Diamond we can count enhancements to the HTC dialer application and some minor ones for Sprint TV and Opera Browser, but also a resolve to an issue where the device may not recognize the “Internal Storage” drive and another one with time not updating correctly after daylight savings time adjustment.

Those who would like to install the new ROM on their devices can find it on HTC's website, along with instructions on how to perform the upgrade. The ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU) can be used for the process, but not before checking the connectivity with ActiveSync, and making sure that the handset's battery is at least 50 percent full. In addition, the company warns users that all data on the device will be deleted, so they should perform a backup before proceeding with the update.

In related news, we learn that the Bluetooth Special Interest Group has got a new HTC handset called Fiesta that is described as “an Android phone” and which is expected to become available in markets including Asia, Europe, and North America. Unfortunately, the Bluetooth SIG filing does not offer as many details as an FCC one would, yet it seems that the new device should make it into the wild at the beginning of 2010.

Given the fact that previous HTC phones came with different names than previously announced – Dream was the Kila, Magic was the Sapphire – the device is expected to come to the market under a moniker other than Fiesta, one that should be unveiled in the future.
