More owners of an HTC Sensation smartphone are now able to unlock the bootloaders on their devices, the leading handset vendor announced.

Earlier this month, the Taiwanese mobile phone maker started to unlock the bootloaders on its high-end Android-based devices.

The HTC Sensation smartphone model on the European market was the first to suffer the change, followed by the HTC EVO 3D devices on the airwaves at Sprint in the United States.

Today, new HTC Sensation models are listed as being supported in the bootloader unlocking process, including the HTC Sensation 4G smartphone available at the moment in the US on the airwaves of T-Mobile.

While users were already able to unlock the bootloaders on their HTC devices through various methods, this is the official manner in which they can perform the action, supposedly safer.

All is being done via the HTCdev website, where users need to register to receive a code for their specific device.

At the moment, the list of supported devices on HTC's website includes the HTC Sensation models for Europe, Turkey, Arabic, and Bouygues Telecom, along with the HTC EVO 3D smartphone at Sprint.

One thing that should be noted right from the start is that users will be the only ones to be held responsible in the event that any issues emerge during or after the unlocking of their handsets' bootloaders.

“It is our responsibility to caution you that not all claims resulting or caused by or from the unlocking of the bootloader may be covered under warranty,” HTC explains.

Unlocking the device will offer users the possibility to easily load custom ROMs on them, provided that the software that HTC loaded on the handset from the start proves to be less appealing than other ROMs.

Those who own an HTC Sensation smartphone and would like to unlock its bootloader will have to go to the said HTCdev website for that. More info on the unlocking process can be found here.
