Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is gearing up for the release of a new range of handsets and mobile devices for the second half of 2011, and the company has already confirmed plans to make the move.

While making the announcement regarding its financial results for the second quarter of the ongoing year, the company also confirmed that a number of 6 to 8 new devices are set to hit the shelves in the near future.

While specific info on these devices was not unveiled, the company did say that they would be running under Android and Windows Phone, and that they would be both smartphones, as well as tablet PCs.

Apparently, Android would be the dominant platform on these devices, though Windows Phone will also get an important share, with at least three HTC smartphones running under the OS already rumored to hit the shelves sometime in fall.

The fact that a flurry of new HTC devices should make an appearance soon is also confirmed by the fact that HTC has just trademarked new names that might be used for them.

HTC Cheetah, HTC Raider, HTC Skyrocket, HTC Titan, and HTC Velo are the names that the company filed for protection for, all of which might land on the market as smartphones, it seems, since they all sport the same goods and services descriptions.

Of course, it still remains to be seen what mobile operating system these phones would run under, and what capabilities they would be offering to their users.

Most probably, they would bring various connectivity capabilities into the mix, including 4G in some cases (Skyrocket does sound like a ThunderBolt sibling), and will also come in all kind of sizes and shapes.

It's uncertain whether any of these will make it in the said batch of 6-8 device set to land this year, but more info on them will certain become available soon, and all will be unveiled then.
