New software upgrades available for download

HTC and Sprint have just released the official Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrades for the HTC Touch and HTC Mogul Pocket PCs that Sprint is offering to its US customers.

Both of the updates bring, of course, the latest version of Microsoft's mobile OS, as well as several other enhancements.

Besides the new face of WM 6.1, HTC Touch will get the following:

- EV-DO Rev. A for a faster Web connectivity and data transfers;

- A-GPS and the Sprint Navigation software;

- Opera Mobile browser;

- and a full on-screen QWERTY keyboard.

HTC Mogul's improvements include:

- access to Sprint TV;

- EV-DO Rev. A;

- A-GPS;

- and a new Task Manager for the Today screen, which allows users to easily access and manage the running applications.

The official software update for HTC Touch (version 3.03.651.4) can be downloaded from this address, while the official update for HTC Mogul (version 3.56.651.0) can be downloaded from this address.

HTC Touch's features (besides the new ones from the software upgrade) include: a 2.8 inch TFT touchscreen display with 240 x 320 pixels and 65K colors, a TouchFlo UI, a 2 Megapixel camera, Music Player, Bluetooth, voice memo, microSD card support and so on. HTC Touch can currently be bought from Sprint for only $99 (with a contract agreement for two years).

The features of HTC Mogul include: 2.8 inch TFT touchscreen display with 64K colors and 240 x 320 pixels, Wi-Fi, a full sliding QWERTY keyboard, Microsoft ActiveSync, Bluetooth, Sprint Music Store, Music and Video players, a 2 Megapixel camera with flash and video recording, phone-as-modem compatibility, USB, speakerphone, voice dialing and expandable memory (a 512MB card is included in the package). Sprint is offering the HTC Mogul for $299, but only after the signing of a 2-year contract agreement.
