HTC's latest Pocket PC will be released by O2

HTC Touch Pro, the "big brother" of HTC Touch Diamond, will be soon offered by O2 Germany to its subscribers, as part of the carrier's own-branded XDA series of Pocket PCs and smartphones.

Officially presented only a few days ago and previously known as HTC Raphael, the Touch Pro is the latest high-end device manufactured by the Taiwan-based HTC. Together with Touch Diamond, the Touch Pro will probably be among the most wanted Windows Mobile handsets during 2008.

According to the::unwired, O2 Germany will release the Touch Pro in a slightly changed version. Besides the name changing (there's no word yet about how exactly the handset will be called), O2 will also remove the current diamond-shaped back case of the ex-Raphael and replace it with a regular one.

Created to resemble the Diamond, HTC Touch Pro brings two important extra features: a full QWERTY keyboard and TV-out. Aside from these things, the device features the same Windows Mobile 6.1 OS, a 2.8 inch TFT touchscreen display with 480 x 640 pixels, HTC's new TouchFlo 3D interface, GPS and Wi-Fi, HSDPA connectivity for high data transfer speeds (up to 7.2 Mbps) and quick Web browsing, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with flash, auto focus and video recording, Music and Video players and so on.

For the moment, we can't say exactly when the Touch Pro will be released by O2 as a XDA Pocket PC, but this should probably happen somewhere at the end of the summer.

HTC Touch Pro will also be offered in Germany by T-Mobile, under the name of MDA Vario IV. Moreover, since O2 and T-Mobile operate in lots of other countries except Germany, it's highly probable that the new HTC Pocket PC will be released by these operators in other markets, like the UK, for example.

Whether released by O2, by T-Mobile or any other carrier, both HTC Touch Pro and HTC Diamond will reach, by the end of 2008, about all the important mobile markets across the globe, as HTC intends to sell as many units ass possible of its new devices.
