U.S. Cellular, the seventh largest mobile operator in the US (in terms of subscribers number), has recently released a new Windows Mobile handset: the HTC Touch.

Of course, the Touch is not new in the true meaning of the word, as it has been available across Europe for about one year, while other North American carriers have been offering it for several months. Anyway, U.S. Cellular has only now released the handset, so its subscribers in need of a cool Windows Mobile smartphone should check it out.

The Touch is being sold for various prices, depending on how customers choose to get it. For example, the retail price of the handset is of $499.95, but with a contract agreement for two years, the price goes down to $349.95. Furthermore, customers who choose a data plan of at least $39 per month can get the smartphone for 299.95. And finally, after a $100 mail-in rebate, the HTC Touch can be yours for only 199.95 (with the mentioned contract agreement and data plan).

In case you're not familiar with the features of HTC Touch, these include: a 2.8 inch TFT touchscreen display with 240 x 320 pixels and handwriting recognition, Windows Mobile 6.0 with a TouchFLO interface, Wi-Fi, Music player, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, document viewer and editor, full HTML browser, email, Instant Messaging, speakerphone, a 2 Megapixel camera, 128MB of Flash memory and support for external memory cards (up to 8GB).

The smartphone measures 4.0 x 2.3 x 0.54 inches (100 x 58 x 13.9 millimeters) and weighs 3.95 ounces (112 grams). The battery included by HTC in the Touch is a 1100 mAh that should keep it going for up to 3.5 hours in talk-time mode or up to ten days in stand-by mode.

HTC Touch can be found either online, on the U.S. Cellular official website, or in the carrier's retail stores. For the moment, the handset is available only in a black color version.
