14 DAY TRIAL // This article refers to one of the most useful tweak applications developed especially for HTC's Touch HD Pocket PC. As we all already know, Touch HD is a Windows Mobile-based device that intends to be HTC's designated rival for Apple's iPhone. While the included TouchFLO 3D user-interface proves to be one of the most appealing, there are still some things missing that could improve its functionality. Developed by MontecriSoft, the HD Tweak application comes to meet these expectations and enables users to customize and optimize their HTC Touch HD device, as they see fit.
HD Tweak can be easily installed once you have downloaded it into your Touch HD Pocket PC. You'll find the application's icon in the Programs menu, after installing it. Before making any changes to your device's settings, you should know that some of them won't activate until you restart the smartphone, though most of them can be used without the need of a soft reset.
The available settings of the software are divided into no less than 21 groups, each with multiple choices. The first one in the row refers to Calls and can drastically improve your battery life. Settings such as Sleep or Fast Sleep get your device backlighting or screen to switch off immediately after placing a call. Also, there are some cosmetic changes that can be made, like changing the battery icon, highlighting color, or phone pad style. You can also set up your handset to wake up when it receives an SMS. Those using Touch HD as a music phone will be happy to find that the application features some audio settings that usually increase sound quality or loudness. More settings are connected to your data plan and network carrier, enabling you to disconnect the device from the Internet as soon as your job is done. Other functions that can be tweaked are Bluetooth, camera, Internet Explorer, TouchFLO 3D interface, Diary, Performance, Keyboard and Gsensor.HD Tweak is a free application and is usually updated regularly, as soon as bugs are discovered or new tweaks are available.
