14 DAY TRIAL // HTC ThunderBolt, Verizon Wireless' first 4G LTE-based Android smartphone, should become available for purchase in the United States today, March 17th, and it can already be seen listed at various retailers, Amazon included. The mobile phone sports a price tag of $179.99 if purchased on contract via Amazon, though it has a “backordered” tag attached to it at the moment, following a brief period of time when it was “in stock.”
The most appealing part of this deal is, of course, the price tag that this device sports at Amazon.
$179.99 is the lowest cost we've seen so far on ThunderBolt, following Verizon's announcement that the device would go for $249, or Wirefly pre-order availability with the device priced at $199.99.
However, things could be even worse, since Best Buy announced that they would have the phone in stock for $249 starting today, but that the price tag for this device would go up to $299 as of March 20th.
Since Amazon had the smartphone listed with as in stock for a while, the fact that it is now backordered makes us believe that many already ordered it. In the end, it is one of the hottest devices that Verizon launched in a while.

The specification list of the new mobile phone includes a fast 1 GHz Snapdragon application processor, complemented by a 4.3-inch Super LCD multi-touch display.
On the back, the new device sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper with HD video recording capabilities, complemented by a front-facing camera for video calling.
The handset also comes with 8GB of internal memory, and with a 32GB microSD memory card packed inside. WiFi, LTE, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, or GPS receiver were included into the mix as well.
“And with the Android 2.2 OS, you'll be able to experience the full Internet thanks to its support for Adobe Flash 10.1-enabling you to play games, watch videos, and more,” Amazon concludes.
