Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has been rumored a while ago to be working on handsets that would pack processors running at more than 1.5GHz, and the HTC Scorpion (also known as Olympian) was one of them. The handset has made it to the headlines once again, rumored to be headed for the United States market on Verizon Wireless' airwaves.

There are no specific details available on when the Scorpion is expected to arrive on shelves, yet the word on the street is that it should bring along a processor clocked in at 1.5GHz, together with the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. Beside Verizon, Bell Mobility is also expected to receive the device, though no official confirmation emerged until now.

The news on Verizon getting the Scorpion sometime in the not too far future came from Conflipper (via Twitter), a quite reliable source when it comes to leaked HTC devices and ROMs, as Engadget points out. In addition to the info on this Android-based device, he unveiled some details on other HTC phones too, which should arrive on shelves with Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system on board.

The list includes the HTC Spark_W, headed for Bell Mobility and Verizon as well, the Sprint-bound HTC Gold_W, the HTC Shubert set for launch on Telus' airwaves, and the HTC Mondrian, which should make an appearance over at Telus, Rogers and AT&T. The last of these handsets made it to the headlines before, when pieces of info on it were extracted from a leaked HTC ROM.

The first two Windows Phone 7-based devices from HTC are said to be worldphones, with the “_W” part in their names suggesting exactly that. This means that they should be launched with dual-mode CDMA and GSM radios packed inside. It still remains to be seen whether the info pans out or not, but it is good to know that carriers are already planning the inclusion of Windows Phone 7 devices in their offering. Conflipper's tweets on the matter can be seen here are here.
