The hottest Windows Mobile-based mobile phone of the last year is by far the HTC HD2. It comes with a large touchscreen display, the first capacitive one in a Windows phone, a speedy processor, a great amount of memory space, a slim form factor, impressive connectivity options, and support for the upcoming Windows Mobile 7. When it comes to this last feature, things were recently about to become official, yet now they are officially unofficial.

To cut the story short, HTC has tweeted recently that a Windows Mobile 7 update will arrive on board of HD2 as soon as the upcoming operating system becomes available on the market from the software giant Microsoft. However, it wasn't too long before the company changed its mind, and another tweet made an appearance, stating that the update is unconfirmed for the time being.

“Unfortunately, the tweet regarding the WM7 upgrade for the HTC HD2 was posted in error and is unconfirmed at this time,” is what the second tweet from the Taiwan-based mobile phone maker states. There is not much that can be said in addition to this, perhaps only that it is obvious how things are, but all is still unconfirmed. We'll still have a long time to wait until WM 7 will land on the market, and all will probably be confirmed around that time, so stick around.

In the mean time, we should also mention that HTC HD2 has been reported previously to be on its way to receive an official update for the upcoming Windows Mobile 7, so these tweets from HTC only confirm what we already knew. HTC, as many of you might have heard already, has delivered an update for some of its Windows Mobile 6.1-based devices to the new Windows Mobile 6.5 flavor of the operating system, so the WM 7 for HD2 is something that users should be waiting for.
