Verizon has been long rumored to plan on launching a flavor of the HTC One smartphone on its network, one that would replace last year’s HTC Butterfly, and some new confirmation on the matter is now available.

A new version of the HTC One was spotted in code associated with an international edition of the HTC DROID DNA, supposedly confirming that the handset is indeed set to arrive on shelves at Big Red, the guys over at HTCSoku found out.

The mobile phone was spotted on with model code DLXPLUS_WL attached to it, which should turn into DLX Plus, or Butterfly 2, as SlashGear notes.

Interestingly enough, it seems that HTC is actually aiming at bringing to the market two other flavors of the HTC Butterfly 2 as well, with U and UL attached to the model code.

At Verizon, the HTC Butterfly 2 might arrive on shelves as DROID DNA+, and could be unveiled before the end of the second quarter of the year, or in early third-quarter, it seems.

The specifications list of the yet unannounced smartphone is said to include a 1.7GHz Qualcomm S4 Pro APQ8064 quad-core processor (which might be, in fact, a Snapdragon 600 chip), and a 4.7-inch display capable of delivering a 1080 pixels resolution.

Furthermore, the device should pack a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and a 2.1MP front camera for video calling.

The hardware specs of the smartphone would also include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and the usual set of sensors.

The successor for DROID DNA would also run under Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, while featuring the Sense 5.0 UI loaded on top. With no official confirmation on the matter, however, we’ll take this info with a grain of salt, though additional details might emerge in the near future, so stay tuned.
