As expected, Rogers and HTC announced the immediate availability of the HTC One X in Canada. The smartphone is available exclusively through major carrier Rogers for as low as $169.99 CAD with a new three-year agreement.

Customers who do not wish to commit to a long-term contract can purchase the smartphone for $624.99 CAD off-contract. Those who pre-ordered the HTC One X have probably received their devices two days ahead of the official launch.

HTC One X is the first device in the HTC One series to be launched in North America. The phone comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform integrated with HTC Sense 4 UI.

Another highlight of the One X is the impressive 8-megapixel rear photo snapper that features HTC’s latest ImageSense technology, allowing users to take pictures even while capturing videos.

According to HTC, with ImageSense the HTC One X can really compete with traditional digital cameras. The phone shutter received improvements to the lens, the sensor, and now integrates a brand new HTC ImageChip.

People take photos on their phone more than any activity other than making phone calls, as evidenced by half of the photos uploaded to Facebook last year coming from a mobile device,” said Rick Babington, executive director, HTC Canada.

The One X also has super crisp 4.7-inch HD (720p) capacitive touchscreen display crafted from contoured Corning Gorilla Glass.

It comes with an LTE-enabled Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core processor and packs 1GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. The phone lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion, but owners will be offered 25GB of free cloud storage.

We're excited to exclusively bring our customers the HTC One X and the premium mobile experience it brings as Canada's first smartphone with Beats Audio and the first of the HTC One series,” added Raj Doshi, senior vice president, Products, Rogers Communications.
