Rumors on the upcoming release of the HTC One X in the United States have come and gone, but AT&T did not reveal any details until today.

The carrier confirmed the smartphone would be exclusively available through its official retail stores starting May 6. Customers can pre-order the HTC One X beginning April 22 for only $199.99 USD (150 EUR) with a new two-year agreement.

This is AT&T's first smartphone to be launched with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box. In addition, the handset runs HTC Sense 4.0 user interface and Beats by Dr. Dre Audio built-in hardware and software.

With HTC Sense 4.0, users will be offered an improved Beats Audio experience while listening to any audio component. Camera enhancements such as quick launch feature are included as well.

Several Beats by Dr. Dre accessories that are fully compatible with HTC One X can be purchased separately from AT&T: Beatbox, Wireless HD Stereo Bluetooth Headphones, Beats Solo HD Headphones, and UR Beats In-ear Headphones.

LTE support and the powerful processor are among the HTC One X main selling points, as well as the impressive 8-megapixel rear camera with ImageSense technology.

HTC One X can easily double as camera thanks to the enhanced photo snapper on the back. The 8-megapixel camera integrates HTC’s new ImageChip that further improves the quality of the pictures.

The smartphone comes with a large 4.7-inch Super IPS LCD2 capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution, and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

Last but not least, the HTC One X’s next-generation 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor allows users to run multiple tasks at the same time.

It is also worth mentioning that HTC One X was released on the market earlier this week and already received a software update that fixes lots of bugs.
