Even though HTC announced its flagship smartphone’s launch date will be pushed a few weeks back in most European countries, it looks like the Taiwanese handset maker is confronted with strong demand in various markets.

Focus Taiwan reports HTC One sees tremendous customer interest in the United States, which is also confirmed by Jason Mackenzie’s latest statements:

“We are seeing our strongest initial response for any smartphone we've ever designed with several hundred thousand people in the U.S. pre-registering to purchase the new HTC One,” said HTC’s president for global sales and marketing.

HTC One has been confirmed to arrive in the United States before the end of April. The smartphone will be available from multiple major carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint.

For the time being, Verizon is the only leading carrier in the US that has yet to officially confirm or deny the upcoming launch of the HTC One next month.

HTC is expected to launch the One this week in several European countries, including the UK and Germany, as well as in Taiwan.

The reason behind this delay is the fact that HTC could not secure enough components for its 4-UltraPixel camera that is packed inside the HTC One. This, along with the fact that HTC One requires around 220 minutes to manufacturer has led to the postponing of the smartphone.

“HTC reinvented the entire process of smartphone production and each new HTC One requires a total of 220 minutes, or nearly four hours, to create,” said Mackenzie.

The HTC One will ship with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but HTC confirmed an Android 4.2.2 upgrade will be available soon after launch.

It is also worth mentioning that the smartphone recently received a small update that greatly improves camera performance.

The update fixes Sense’s image quality issues and is likely to be pushed to all HTC devices featuring this imaging technology.
