Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is getting ready for an expanded availability of its HTC One (M8) devices, and should make the dual-SIM version available for purchase in Europe in the near future.

Apparently, users in Asia will also be able to purchase the new handset in the not-too-distant future, while enjoying the very same design that the single-SIM variant was released with earlier this year.

The info comes from @LlabTooFeR, who also mentions that the new version of the smartphone will hit shelves with 4G LTE connectivity packed inside.

He also says that the mobile phone sports model number M8_DUGL, and that HTC has already released the source code for it on HTCDev.

Those who would like to have a look at the phone’s kernel source should head over to the company’s developer website for that.

The code might not mean a lot for end users, but it will certainly have some things to unveil to app builders and modders, even if it might resemble a lot the one that was released for the original HTC One M8.

The dual-SIM flavor of the smartphone should be highly similar to the single-SIM variant, which means that users will see very few changes in hardware, except, of course, for the obvious addition of a secondary SIM slot.

The HTC One M8 was announced in late March this year as the latest flagship smartphone from the Taiwanese vendor, and has been available for purchase ever since.

The handset was launched with a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution, as well as with a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor inside, complemented by Adreno 330 graphics.

The mobile phone also sports 2GB of RAM and has been announced in both 16GB and 32GB versions, both featuring a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 128GB of external storage.

On the back, the phone packs a duo-camera setup, complemented by a 5MP front camera for making video calls while on the go, and for taking great selfies.

What’s more, the smartphone includes all of the usual connectivity capabilities, such as 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, as well as a built-in GPS receiver for navigation purposes. A Li-Po 2600mAh battery powers the device, offering up to 20 hours of talk time, or up to 496 hours of standby time.

HTC One (M8) was made official with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system loaded on top, as well as with HTC’s own Sense 6.0 UI.
