Things haven’t been too rosy for HTC lately, but in a fresh interview with Financial Times, CEO Peter Chou and chairwoman Cher Wang have revealed that the company is looking to extend its device portfolio.

Apparently, they are in the process of adding a new slate. The two company officials also slipped in some previously unknown details, like the fact that HTC apparently worked alongside Microsoft to build an elusive smartwatch. Microsoft is known for starting a smartwatch project back in 2004, but it ended up abandoning four years later.

It’s still unknown if HTC is willing to go back to the smartwatch business or not, as the two were skittish in providing any more information on the topic.

But what about the tablet? Wang didn’t let more details slip out, but managed to entice the imagination by stating the device will be “nice and disruptive” when it finally shows up in the wild.
