2013 is almost over, and everybody is eagerly waiting to learn what mobile phone makers out there might have in store for their users during the next year, that’s for sure.

Some rumors on the matter have already emerged, suggesting impressive hardware capabilities, such as mainstream octa-core processors, 2k screens, and flexible devices, yet the actual upcoming devices are still shrouded in mystery.

HTC is one of the companies set to launch a new smartphone in the beginning of 2014, the long rumored HTC One 2 (aka HTC M8), and it still remains to be seen what looks it will employ and what new capabilities it will have to offer.

We have already had the chance to have a look at a concept device based on the previously rumored HTC One 2 specs, and a new one is now available, this time proposing a possible successor for the yet unannounced smartphone.

Dubbed HTC M9 and coming from Rohit Singh, via concept-phones, this device certainly looks like a flagship handset, both given its hardware specs, and its looks.

The first thing that will strike you when looking at the photos attached to this post will be the thinness of the smartphone, which makes it quite appealing, despite the square-ish design it comes with.

HTC M9 is also said to feature a Snapdragon 805 processor, though a future CPU could also be packed inside it, as well as 4GB of RAM, and a 5.3-inch touchscreen that can deliver a 2k resolution.

Furthermore, it features a 12MP UltraPixel camera on the back, along with a BoomSound speaker on the front, and features such as HTC Zoe and BlinkFeed, which come as part of HTC’s Sense user interface.

The concept device features an aluminum case, runs under Android KitKat, and sports four capacitive buttons on the front, as well as an interesting 3D look.

HTC M9 is only a concept phone for the time being, though it would not come too much as a surprise if HTC or other handset vendors out there decided to release phones with similar capabilities packed inside in two years or so.
