Two yet unannounced smartphones from Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC have received certification from POSTEL Indonesia, suggesting that they might become official in the not too distant future.

One of these handsets sports the model number HTC M8x and might be unveiled as the company’s next flagship mobile phone.

HTC has been long rumored to plan the release of a smartphone codenamed HTC M8, which might arrive on shelves as HTC One+, proving a worthy successor for last year’s HTC One.

No official confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now, but the aforementioned approval from POSTEL (the certification authority of the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information) could mean that previous rumors are about to pan out.

HTC M8x received certification in Indonesia on January 13 along with another smartphone from the Taiwanese vendor, namely the HTC D310w, as GSMInsider notes.

Chances are that HTC will make the new handset available for purchase in Asia in the not too distant future, though specific details on the matter are still missing.

The HTC D310w, on the other hand, is expected to hit shelves as a cheaper mobile phone from the company, one that would fit nicely in the HTC Desire lineup.

This also means that it won’t pack high-end hardware specifications, the same as other devices in the series, and that it might be primarily targeted at emerging markets.

Previous reports on HTC’s plans for this year have suggested that M8 (One+) might become official in March, and not in February during the MWC 2014 show in Barcelona.

The phone is said to feature a larger screen compared to HTC One, a faster processor, and a better UltraPixel camera (one that would include two sensors).

While HTC has yet to deliver specific info on the matter, it should not be too long before we learn all about the flagship smartphone, so keep an eye on this space for additional details.
