Mobile phone carrier Vodafone Australia has just announced via a blog post that the HTC Legend devices on their airwaves would soon taste an over-the-air update to the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system flavor. According to the wireless carrier, those who own an HTC Legend device on its network should benefit from a wide range of enhancements as soon as this new OS flavor becomes available for them.

Some of the main improvements they would enjoy include:

Portable Hotspot Turn your handset into a Wi-Fi hotspot for devices such as pc’s, laptops, and even other mobile phones!

Improved Security & email Remote wipe for Exchange administrators allowing for handsets email accounts to be wiped if lost and Global Address Lists look-up so you no longer need to store all your email contacts on you handset

Live wallpapers on Android App Market

Check out the Aquarium and Google Maps for an amazing interactive experience that will wow your friends and keep you entertained for hours!

App Market improvements

Update your downloaded apps all at once with the ‘update all’ option. Plus now you can store apps on your SD card allowing for more space on your device and bigger apps!

But these are only some of the benefits of upgrading to the new software available for the HTC Legend.

As soon as the update was performed, the phone's owners would also enjoy an improved browsing experience, since the new OS flavor comes with support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1.

What was not unveiled for the time being was the specific time frame when Vodafone Australia plans on making the software available for its customers.

“Built from a single piece of brushed aluminium the HTC Legend, will soon be updated Over The Air with Android 2.2 ‘Froyo’” is all that the carrier states.
