Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation announced on Tuesday that its third Android-based mobile phone, the HTC Hero, was launched in India. The handset, as many of you might already know, is considered the most appealing Android phone to date, and sports a sleek design complemented by the HTC Sense, an experience that should soon come to more HTC devices.

According to the company, the HTC Hero is meant to deliver an enhanced experience to mobile phone users in India. Both its interface and its design make users enjoy it, while the Teflon coating it comes with delivers an improved, durable surface. In addition, the phone maker also announced that Airtel users in the country would receive a special offer along with the Hero, namely 100MB of free data downloads per month for the first six months. Not to mention the array of applications that will come to them, including Portfolio Manager, Hello Tune Manager, Weather Channel, Mobshare and other more.

The Android-powered HTC Hero further underlines HTC’s commitment to push the boundaries in mobile phone innovation and design. HTC Hero introduces a more natural way for reaching out to the people and accessing important information in a much more easier and hassle-free manner. We are also very pleased to introduce a fully customized user interface called HTC Sense with the HTC Hero,” said Ajay Sharma, Country Head, HTC India. “HTC Sense is a distinct experience created to make HTC phones more engaging, immersive and intuitive and will be integrated across a portfolio of HTC’s phones in the future,” he further added.

The specs list of the HTC Hero includes a 3.2-inch HVGA display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, built-in GPS receiver, gravity-sensor, a 3.5mm stereo headset jack, a dedicated search button, microSD memory card slot for additional storage space, as well as Web and multimedia enhancements. At the same time, the device comes with HTC Sense, an intuitive experience based on three principles, Make It Mine (allows for personalization of contacts, content, profiles), Stay Close (integrates phone calls, emails, texts, photos, status updates and more into a single view) and Discover the Unexpected.

The handset comes to the Indian market with a price tag of Rs. 34,600/- in Maharashtra and Rs. 31,990/- in the Rest of India. Users will find it available at all authorized HTC resellers in the country.
