New information regarding the upcoming HTC Knight has just surfaced, as the device made its appearance into BestBuy's data transfer system. Also known as Evo 4G Shift or HTC Speedy, it was pictured for the first time ten days ago and seems to be heading to Sprint.

Rumors indicated that this might be a 4G version of the G2, but it seems that the device will lack the video-calling feature.

The picture of the BestBuy data transfer system shows the HTC Knight labeled as PG0610, just like the codename appearing in the FCC filing.

Bits of information regarding the phone software have also leaked courtesy to XDA Developers user Football who posted the smartphone's dumped ROM. The few users who flashed the ROM reported that HTC Knight didn't have the new Sense UI yet and that it was basically the CDMA version of a G2, hardware wise.

However, the advantage of the Knight is the fact that it will have a much better battery life with 4G usage than other 4G compatible smartphones.

HTC Knight is supposed to run the Android 2.2 Froyo platform and will be exclusively launched at Sprint under a different name, HTC Speedy.

For those who wish to make an idea about Knight's hardware, here are some highlights from the G2 spec-sheet.

The T-Mobile G2 is powered by a Qualcomm MSM 7230 800 MHz processor and features a 3.7-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

HTC Knight, just like the G2 comes with a full-slide QWERTY keyboard, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, Swype text input and multi-touch input method. The device has a large D-pad similar to that of the Motorola Milestone.

Other key features of the G2 include: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 4 GB of internal memory, 512 MB RAM, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 8GB card included), 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, as well as GPS with A-GPS support.
