Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation might not have managed to sell too many HTC One M8 smartphones, should the latest reports on the matter be true, but the company is not giving up.

In fact, the vendor has just announced a new flavor of the flagship smartphone, one that is meant to appeal to fans of Marvel’s “The Avengers.”

We’re referring here to a limited edition S.H.I.E.L.D. version of the HTC One (M8), which has been announced for Canada and the United States, with the iconic S.H.I.E.L.D. logo placed on its rear.

Furthermore, the mobile phone maker has announced that users can enter a special contest that will enable them to win one of these limited edition devices.

The promotion will end on May 15 and requires for users to share a Captain America-inspired selfie, with the #superselfie hashtag attached to it, either on Facebook or on Twitter.

“Hero or villain? Show us your ‘super self’ for a chance to win a limited edition HTC One (M8) with numbered S.H.I.E.L.D. etching,” HTC notes on its website.

“To enter, show us your Captain America-inspired selfie with the #superselfie hashtag on Twitter or join the conversation with your own submission on our Facebook Super Selfie posts.”

Those who would like to learn more details on what the promotion involves should go to this page on HTC’s website for the full list of rules.

All users in the United States (including the District of Columbia) and Canada (excluding Quebec) age 18-50 can enter the sweepstakes, as long as they are not working or closely related to people working at one of the companies involved in the promotion.

You might also want to know that the promotion is related to the fact that HTC’s last year flagship device, the HTC One, actually made an appearance in the latest movie in the series, namely “Captain America: The Winter Solder.”

“The First Avenger always uses the absolute best technology and the HTC One (M8) is a natural fit. It has an all metal body, a home screen streaming up-to-the-minute information, a Duo camera to create professional looking photos with more depth, and dual front-facing speakers,” HTC notes.

Special Captain America wallpapers are also available for download for the owners of HTC One M8 devices out there and can be easily downloaded, as HTC explains.

All that users will need to do to grab them is to head over to the company’s website, where four such wallpapers are available for download, grab the one they like the most, and then save it to their phones. It will be available in the Gallery app on the device.
