HTC Hero, one of the most popular Android-based mobile phones delivered to the market by Taiwan-based HTC Corporation, is expected to see a ROM upgrade within the next few weeks, the latest news around the Internet suggests. The new software upgrade is expected to bring a new Android flavor to Hero users, enhancing the experience they receive from the phone.

Originally, the software upgrade for HTC Hero was rumored to land sometime before the end of the first quarter of 2010. Previous reports suggested that mid-April was the actual roll-out time frame (European Hero was said to receive a new ROM on April 16 or April 24, depending on market and carrier), but it seems that users should wait a little longer for the update.

According to a recent article on This Android Life, the Taiwanese mobile phone maker already confirmed its intention to release a new ROM upgrade for HTC Hero starting with the end of April. The company does not offer details on what the software solution will include, but we should be able to learn all about that in a few weeks, the news site notes.

“Thank you for your inquiry about ROM upgrade. Some of the phones in our Android line up including your Hero are due to receive an upgrade, and it is scheduled to be released starting at the end of April. Your phone should be upgraded Over-The-Air. You can expect a pop-up message on your phone when connected to the Internet once it is ready. When the upgrade is ready, we will notify you via our website and on various social media networks including Twitter and Face book,” is what HTC had to say on the matter.

Even if the confirmation of the planned ROM upgrade roll-out is here, we should still wait to see when exactly the solution arrives, as well as what it will have to offer to HTC Hero owners.
