Mobile phone carrier Telstra Australia is expected to make available for purchase in the near future a new smartphone running under Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system, namely the HTC HD7. The new device would join two other WP7 smartphones the carrier has in store at the moment, the HTC 7 Mozart and the LG Quantum.

No official announcement on the matter was made for the time being, but a Telstra employee mentioned in a forum post the upcoming arrival of this smartphone at the wireless carrier.

Moreover, the employee noted that the high-end smartphone is expected to become available for purchase at Telstra as soon as next month, on March 15th.

This should not come too much as a surprise, since the wireless carrier announced back in October last year that it plans on having the HD7 available for purchase on its airwaves.

“At today’s launch we also confirmed that the HTC HD7, unveiled by HTC overnight, would join our Next G range in the coming months,” the company said at the time.

At the same time, the wireless carrier said that the smartphone should arrive in Australia exclusively on its airwaves.

However, Telstra did not unveil further details on the availability of this device until now, when the said employee mentioned that HD7 would arrive very soon.

Packing a large 4.3-inch high-resolution touchscreen display, the HTC HD7 can easily prove to be one of the most appealing Windows Phone 7 devices out there.

The smartphone also comes with a powerful processor inside, enhanced connectivity capabilities, including 3G support, as well as WiFi, or Bluetooth, GPS receiver, and a high-resolution camera on the back.

Unfortunately, the same as with the rest of the Windows Phone 7 devices, the HD7 won't offer support for microSD memory cards to expand the available storage space.

Provided that the rumor would pan out, it should not be too long before Telstra makes a formal announcement on this, so stay tuned for more.
