Wireless carrier O2 has just announced the upcoming availability of a Windows Phone 7 smartphone on its airwaves, namely the HTC HD7, which is set to be put on sale on October 21st for free via all O2 stores, as well as on the company's website.

The HTC HD7 would be put on sale at the operator on various Pay Monthly Smartphone tariffs, on which users get unlimited Wi-Fi at The Cloud and BT Openzone hotspots.

The mobile phone goes free on the carrier's £40 per month 24 month tariff (900 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB UK data), but can also be purchased on Pay & Go plans at O2, priced at £379.

The specifications list of the new device includes a 1GHz Qualcomm QSD 8250 application processor, complemented by 16GB of internal memory, packed inside a device that measures 122 x 68 x 11.2mm.

The HTC HD7 sports a 4.3-inch TFT LCD display with multi-touch capabilities and boasting a 480 x 800 pixels (WVGA) resolution, as well as a 5-megapixel photo snapper with dual LED flash, HD video recording.

The specifications list of the new phone also includes Quad band GSM, Dual band WCDMA Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity options, as well as G-Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Ambient light Sensor, Digital Compass.

The handset also comes with A-GPS functionality, as well as with micro-USB charger, built-in kickstand, and a 3.5mm stereo headphone socket.

Not to mention that the device runs under the new Windows Phone 7 OS, which delivers a new approach to the smartphone world through seamlessly integrating all forms of communication straight to the homescreen.

The OS comes with everything organized in Hubs, such as the People hub, all contacts put together, including Facebook and Windows Live friends, or the Games hub, with Xbox Live integration, and more.

Windows Phone 7 also comes with a great mobile Microsoft Office experience, with support for viewing and editing Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents, with OneNote Mobile, and more.
