14 DAY TRIAL // Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation recently released new software updates for one of its best selling handsets on the market, the HTC HD2. Both updates are available for the HD2 in Europe. The first of them comes to the UK, aiming at the music stability of the device, while the other is a new ROM upgrade, available for download for T-Mobile's users in the UK, Germany and Czech Republic.
The update for HTC HD2 Music Stability is available for all units running under ROM versions equal to 1.73.xxx.x, or lower. According to HTC, “this update for HTC HD2 HTC Sense enhances the stability of the music application so your enjoyment of your music is no longer interrupted by the player behaving unexpectedly.” Additional details on the new software solution, along with the actual downloadable file, are available on HTC's website here.
As for the ROM upgrade for HTC HD2 (T-Mobile), the mobile phone maker does not offer specific details on what the solution includes. The update is available for download in the UK as ROM version 1.72.110.4, users living in Germany will receive it as version 1.72.111.4, while those in the Czech Republic will download ROM version 1.72.113.4.
HTC notes that, before proceeding with the update, users should "confirm that this software upgrade is a newer version than what is currently installed on your device. If it is the same version and your device is operating normally, there is no need to reinstall the software. To check what version is installed on your device, click Start > Settings > System tab > Device Information > Version tab, and note the ROM version, CPU, and Radio version.”
Those willing to download and install the ROM upgrade should note that it comes as a generic software update, and that any settings or apps provided by the carrier will be lost. At the same time, they should consider backing up all data on their device before proceeding with the installation process, so as to make sure that no important information or file is lost in the process.
