HTC India has just announced the availability of its first Android tablet, the HTC Flyer at all authorized HTC resellers across the country for a suggested retail price of Rs. 39,890 (about $885).

Even though the Taiwanese handset manufacturer stated that prices may vary according to the local applicable taxes, the 3G version of tablet is already available for purchase via online retailer Flipkart for only Rs. 37,499 (about $830).

It is unclear if the HTC Flyer's price includes the HTC Scribe pen, which allows users to interact much easier with the device.

Usually, the pen is sold separately for about $80, depending on the location, as well as retailer.

The HTC Flyer is encased in a sleek aluminum unibody that is very light, weighing as little as a paperback book.

The tablet comes with a 7-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen that supports 16 million colors and 600 x 1024 pixels resolution.

In addition, the tablet is equipped with a fast single core processor clocked at 1.5Ghz speed and runs Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread platform.

HTC believes that many people are progressing beyond a single wireless device paradigm into an era where some will own multiple wireless devices that serve their different needs,” said Faisal Siddiqui, country manager, HTC India.

With HTC Sense on board, the Flyer offers users a smooth experience thanks to the unique carousel of widgets that puts the most important content and information on the home screen.

The integrated HTC Scribe Technology allows users to easily take notes, sign contracts, draw pictures, or even write on a web page or photo.

A special feature called Timemark allows users to capture the audio of a meeting in line with the written notes, so tapping on a word in the notes section takes users to that exact place in time in the audio recording of the meeting.

We saw an opportunity to create a tablet experience that is different, more personal and productive, and are extremely excited to introduce the HTC Flyer in the Indian market,” added Siddiqui.

With the HTC Watch, the company's new video service, users will be able to download hundreds of HD movies from major studios.

Last, but not least, the cloud gaming service called OnLive will enable customers to play a variety of games, including hits like Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, NBA 2K11 and Lego Harry Potter.
