As expected, Motorola ADMIRAL and HTC EVO 4G Design have just gone live and can now be ordered from Sprint for as low as $99.99 (72 EUR) with new two-year agreements and after a $50 (36 EUR) mail-in rebate.

The two smartphone seems similar when it comes to hardware configuration, but HTC's handset comes with 4G support, whereas the Motorola ADMIRAL only features 3G.

However, Motorola's smartphone is the first Android Direct Connect device, which provides instant, one-to-one push-to-talk (PTT) calling on the Sprint network, with any other Direct Connect subscriber.

Those unfamiliar with Sprint's Direct Connect should know that this is a core push-to-talk (PTT) feature and is designed for work across Sprint and Nextel network platforms. The smartphone offers users full Microsoft Exchange support, but other email systems as well.

In addition, Motorola ADMIRAL is a rugged smartphone, as the device is certified for Military Standard 810G for dust, shock, vibration, solar radiation, low pressure and high and low temperatures.

Hardware-wise, the ADMIRAL is equipped with a 1.2GHz processor, 3.1-inch VGA touchscreen display (640 x 480 pixels resolution) and a full portrait QWERTY keyboard.

It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with access to Android Market and full suite of Google apps and services, including Google Maps, Google Talk, Gmail and YouTube.

HTC EVO Design 4G is delivered with Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread platform, complemented by HTC Sense 3.0 user interface.

Unlike Motorola ADMIRAL, the EVO Design 4G has a large 4.0-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 540 x 960 pixels resolution.

The smartphone is powered by a single core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor and packs 768 MB of RAM, and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 8GB memory card included).

The EVO Design 4G sports a 5-megapixel main camera with autofocus and LED flash, as well as secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.
