HTC and Rogers have just announced the launch of the EVO 3D Android smartphone in Canada, which will be available beginning tomorrow for as low as $149.99 on select three-year plans.

The glasses-free 3D-capable smartphone can be purchased in-store starting August 11, but the carrier may also put it on sale online.

Powered Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and HTC Sense UI, the EVO 3D is a multi-tool being equally proficient at downloading music and movies, accessing applications from the Android Market and sharing photos and videos with friends and family via integrated social networking support.

The phone comes with stereoscopic 5-megapixel cameras, which allow users to capture in 3D, while built-in 3D display technology makes it possible to watch videos and browse photos on the large 4.3-inch 3D LCD capacitive touchscreen that doesn't require glasses.

HTC EVO 3D is delivered with HTC Watch app that allows users to browse, download and watch movies.

Thanks to the progressive downloading feature users will be able to watching movies just seconds after they started the download process, even while the movie is downloading in the background.

The HTC EVO 3D is a multi-media powerhouse that fits in the palm of your hand. The bar is constantly rising on what people demand from their smartphones and the HTCEVO 3D is answering the call by not only being a powerful communication device, but also a 3D entertainment centre,” said Rick Babington, executive director, HTC Canada.

It is also worth mentioning that HTC EVO 3D is the first Android phone available via Rogers to use Wi-Fi Calling.

According to the carrier, when subscribed to an unlimited Wi-Fi calling add-on, any voice minutes used with Wi-Fi calling are not deducted from the voice minute allocation on a user's voice plan.

As expected, the smartphone can also be turned into a Mobile Hotspot, allowing up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices to share Rogers 4G HSPA network.

As a reminder, Rogers HTC EVO 3D is available for purchase from best Buy since August 5.
