Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the latest flavor of Google's mobile operating system, is currently rolling out on a series of already existing devices around the world, with HTC Desire HD and HTC Incredible S in India being the latest ones to receive it. The Taiwanese mobile phone maker announced the availability of the new software update for its two high-end devices since about a month ago, and it seems that users in India are receiving it now.

The software update is expected to bring a nice range of new features on these two smartphones, along with a series of enhancements and fixes from HTC themselves.

The software update should be delivered over the air, and users would receive a notification when it is made available for their specific handsets.

According to HTC, those who would like to download the new software update should consider doing so via a WiFi connection, so as to make sure that there would be no overcharges.

As soon as the update was installed, users can check on the successful completion of the process through heading to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Software number.

As stated above, there would be a wide range of enhancements that the owners of a HTC Desire HD or Incredible S would enjoy on their devices as soon as Android 2.3 Gingerbread is up and running on them.

These improvements would range from a series of user interface changes, which should increase the speed of the OS, to faster, more intuitive text input, or copy/paste capabilities.

At the same time, the new platform version would bring to on HTC Desire HD and Incredible S improved control over applications, better power management, Internet calling, NFC (Near-field communications), download management, and more.

According to Androidos.in, the software update weighs in at around 47 MB, and should arrive on all devices in the near future. No specific info on how long it would take before all handsets are upgraded emerged.
