HTC has just announced the entry-level Desire C and several UK retailers and carriers have already been confirmed to offer the smartphone this month.

According to HTC, the Desire C will be available in the UK through Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile, Virgin Media, Three, O2, Phones4U, The Carphone Warehouse, and Tesco Mobile.

T-Mobile UK was the first to confirm the smartphone will be available for purchase this month for £169 (270 USD or 210 EUR) on PAYG (pay as you go). In addition, customers will be able to grab the HTC Desire C for free with contracts starting at £15.50.

Orange UK will also offer the Desire C for the same price on PAYG, or for free from £20.50 a month on a 24 month plan. However, the handset will only be available from "early June."

The smartphone will be available in red, white and black colors. The phone will be shipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system integrated with HTC Sense 4.0 UI.

Moreover, the Desire C features Beats Audio technology, allowing for rich, clear audio experience. The phone sports a decent 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution.

Although the phone is delivered with the latest version of Android, HTC Desire C is equipped with a low-performance 600 MHz processor and 512MB of RAM.

On the inside, the budget-friendly smartphone embeds 4GB of internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), as well as 25GB of free cloud storage via Dropbox.

It is also worth mentioning the smartphone comes with NFC (Near Field Communication) capability and 5-megapixel rear photo snapper.

Listening to music is one of the most popular things people use their phones for, so it’s more important than ever that we deliver the power and emotion artists capture in the studio. The HTC Desire C offers customers excellent design, easy access to content and fast connectivity – making it the perfect all round device,” said Jason Mackenzie, president, Global Sales and Marketing for HTC Corporation.
