One of the devices that Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC has made official this year is the HTC Desire 816, which is now starting to arrive on shelves in Europe, after debuting in Asia a few months back.

The handset, announced during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February, is now up for grabs in Romania, but it might not be too long before its hits shelves in other countries on the old continent, as PhoneArena notes.

At the moment, the unlocked version of the device is up for grabs in the country with a price tag of 1,299 RON ($407/€293) attached to it, with dual-SIM capabilities packed inside.

The handset was made official in February as a mid-range device, and the price tag it was launched with in Romania is in line with that. The phone should hit shelves in other European countries at a similar cost.

For those out of the loop, we should note that HT unveiled the new mobile phone with a large 5.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p resolution, as well as with a 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor packed inside.

Moreover, the phone was launched with 1.5GB of RAM, as well as with 8GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot to enable users to add some more storage to it.

On the back, the handset sports a 13-megapixel camera with full HD video recording capabilities, paired with a 5MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

Moreover, the handset hits shelves with all the usual set of connectivity capabilities packed inside, as well as with the entire range of common sensors. The phone measures 6.17 x 3.10 x 0.31 inches (156.6 x 78.7 x 7.99 mm) and is powered by a 2600mAh battery.

HTC Desire 816 runs under the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system right from the start, as well as with HTC’s Sense user interface loaded on top.

Rumor has it that the handset will be released in the UK and the US as soon as this month, but no specific info on the matter has been provided as of now. In the US, it could be launched on the network of wireless carrier AT&T.

Desire 816 should be able to deliver a pretty decent experience at an affordable price tag, and it might not be too long before HTC unveils more on its availability worldwide, so stay tuned to learn specifics on the matter.
