Today, HTC Corporation has officially announced the availability of two new smartphones on the market in India, with HTC Desire 616 accompanying the HTC One E8 in this country before the end of July.

In fact, while the One E8 will be released later this month, the HTC Desire 616 will land on shelves in India as soon as tomorrow, HTC has revealed.

The handset, made official recently as a mid-range device, will feature a price tag of Rs. 16,900 ($281/€206) when put up for sale, the Taiwanese mobile phone maker also confirms.

However, despite the affordable price tag, the mobile phone still features highly appealing specifications, starting with a 5-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 720p resolution.

The handset was made official with a 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek processor inside, paired with Mali 450-MP4 graphics and 1GB of RAM, which should be able to deliver pretty decent performance capabilities to all users.

HTC Desire 616 also features 4GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of external storage.

On the back, the new mobile phone features an 8-megapixel camera with auto-focus, LED Flash, and full HD video recording capabilities. A 2MP front camera was also included in the package, so that users could make video calls while on the go.

The smartphone was announced in India with 3G HSPA+ connectivity, as well as with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0, in addition to a built-in GPS with A-GPS.

Moreover, it is powered by a 2000mAh battery that can deliver up to 14 hours of talk time, or up to 700 hours of standby time, while also featuring dual-SIM capabilities. HTC Desire 616 measures 142 x 71.9 x 9.15mm and weighs 150 grams.

The new mobile phone runs under the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, with the Sense 5.1 user interface loaded on top, with HTC BlinkFeed. Most probably, HTC will deliver a newer platform iteration to this device in the not-too-distant future.

HTC Desire 616 will arrive on shelves in two color flavors, namely White and Grey. As mentioned above, users in the country interested in the purchase of this device will be able to grab it as soon as tomorrow.

What remains to be seen is how well this device will fare in India, as various mid-range octa-core smartphones are already available in the country, many coming from local handset vendors, which are very popular in this country.
