Soon, mobile phone users in the United States will be able to purchase a new mid-range smartphone from Taiwanese handset vendor HTC Corporation, in the form of HTC Desire 610.

No official announcement on the matter has been made as of now, but a recent tweet coming from infamous tipster @evleaks suggests that things will indeed happen this way.

HTC Desire 610 is expected to arrive on the market with a price tag of around $300 (€220) attached to it, and it might not hit shelves at AT&T before the second quarter of the year, given that it is expected to arrive in Europe at that time.

The specifications list of HTC Desire 610 does not include impressive items, but it does prove that even cheaper smartphones can provide users with nice performance levels.

The phone was announced with a 4.7-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 960 x 540 pixels resolution, while being powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor.

Moreover, HTC has packed the new mobile phone with 1GB of RAM inside, as well as with 8GB of internal memory. A microSD memory card slot was also included in the package, enabling users to easily add up to 128GB of additional storage space, it seems.

But there’s more to it. HTC Desire 610 was also unveiled with an 8-megapixel camera on the back, which sports f/2.4 aperture, and which is capable of recording videos in 720p resolution.

At the same time, the handset has a 1.3-megapixel front camera for video calling, which is also said to be able to handle 720p videos, as Engadget notes in a post.

HTC also decided to go for the full range of connectivity capabilities with the new mid-range smartphone, including LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. A built-in GPS receiver for navigation purposes and the like is also included in the list of hardware specs.

What’s more interesting is that HTC also included some of the features previously available on HTC One in the new phone, such as BoomSound stereo frontal speakers, for an enhanced audio experience.

Desire 610 was announced with support for nano-SIM cards and for LTE networks in for either EMEA or Asia. Despite that, however, it would not come too much as a surprise if the phone was announced for the United States with support for AT&T’s LTE network too.

HTC’s mid-range device is powered by a 2040mAh battery and runs under the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, with the company’s own set of customizations loaded on top.
