HTC unveiled the Desire 610 mid-ranger back in February and put it on sale a few months later, in May. However, the smartphone is not yet available in all major markets, so lots of Android fans are still waiting for HTC to bring it to their countries.

One of the most popular mid-range Android smartphones launched by HTC this year, the Desire 610 has finally made its debut in Australia.

The smartphone has been officially introduced in the country recently and is now available for purchase at Telstra for just $312 (€215) outright.

Customers who can’t afford to buy the HTC Desire 610 for its upfront price can grab it for free on select plans starting at $55 (€38) and up, with no handset repayments.

Only the blue color version of the Desire 610 is now available at Telstra, which is a bit curious considering that HTC has announced that the smartphone will be available worldwide in black, white, red, green and gray.

The Desire 610 will ship with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box and a decent enough 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor.

The phone’s CPU is accompanied by an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via the microSD card slot.

HTC’s mid-range smartphone sports a 4.7-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution. It also packs an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

Although it’s not the best camera for selfies, the phone’s 1.3-megapixel shutter on the front is good enough for video calls and self-portraits.

One of the selling points of the Desire 610, besides the affordable price, is the fact that it offers LTE support. Other connectivity options provided include 3G HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS and NFC (Near Field Communication).

Last but not least, HTC Desire 610 is a single-SIM smartphone that accepts nano-SIMs and is powered by a non-removable 2040 mAh battery.

“Our Desire range presents unparalleled value for customers who want a best in class 4G smartphone, with no compromise on quality, at an affordable price.

“We have worked closely with Telstra again to ensure the HTC Desire 610 supports Telstra’s ultra-fast 700MHz network band which will allow people to stay connected deeper in buildings or on the edge of the network in rural areas,” HTC’s Country Manager, Ben Hodgson, told AusDroid.
