HTC Desire 500 has been listed at various authorized resellers in India for quite some time now, but none of these major retailers has kicked off sales until today.

Fonearena reports that at least two Indian retailers are now offering the HTC Desire 500, Infibeam and Saholic, but more could start selling the device in the coming days.

Customers who wish to purchase the smartphone can do so for no less than Rs 20,499 outright, which is about $330 or €245. That’s not a bad price for an HTC smartphone, but it may seem overpriced in comparison with other handsets launched by native handset makers.

The Desire 500 comes with dual-SIM (GSM / GSM) support and is available in two color options: black and blue. It ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and Sense 5 UI.

Hardware-wise, the Desire 500 is more than decent, as it comes with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, an Adreno 203 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

Although it packs only 4 GB of internal memory, HTC Desire 500 features microSD card slot, so users can further expand storage up to 64 GB.

HTC Desire 500 sports a decent 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 217 ppi (pixel density), as well as Beats Audio sound enhancement.

It also comes with HSDPA (7.2Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76Mbps) support, along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and built-in GPS.

On the back, the Desire 500 sports an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, while in the front, there’s a secondary 1.6-megapixel camera for video calls.

Last but not least, the smartphone is powered by an 1800 mAh Li-Ion battery that should provide up to 435 hours of standby time or up to 12 hours of talk time.
