Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has just started to push out new software updates for two of its most popular handsets on the European market today, the Desire S and Sensation.

The handset vendor announced plans on the matter via its Twitter account, but did not offer specific info on what exactly the new software packs inside.

However, it seems that there might be a series of bug fixes included inside these packages, and that users might also benefit from a series of enhancements after updating their devices.

The new firmware landing on HTC Desire S devices in Europe weighs in at 6.79MB, and is said to include only fixes and performance improvements for the smartphone.

Apparently, the main purpose of the new firmware was to patch a series of issues that the latest OS upgrade for the handset, namely Android 2.3.5, which arrived in October, might have caused.

Owners of Desire S devices can also manually check for the update to see whether it is available for their smartphones or not.

They can do so by heading to Menu> Settings> About Phone> Software Updates. One way or the other, it seems that there is nothing there to get too enthusiastic about.

A similar software update started to arrive on HTC Sensation devices across Europe as well, also over the air, just as the update for Desire S.

The new software sports version 1.50.401.1 and includes a nice range of improvements, Evgeni Pavlov, product manager at HTC Russia, explains on Twitter.

"Twitter API, Qualcomm patch, Touch panel drivers, Market v.3 apps availability" are the main enhancements included with this update, he says in a recent message.

The same as with Desire S, users who did not receive the new update will be able to perform manual checks for it, using the same simple steps mentioned above.
