Taiwanese company HTC has just introduced the Desire Eye selfies smartphone, but the company is expected to announce at least one other handset with a powerful front-facing camera.

Apart from the fact that it comes with an amazing 13-megapxiel camera in the front that features dual-LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, the selfies smartphone announced by HTC also packs unique camera features grouped under a software suite called Eye Experience.

Although HTC promised that the Eye Experience would be available on other smartphones via software update, it looks like the company plans to launch new handsets with better front-facing cameras to make the Eye Experience even better.

The unannounced HTC One E8 EYE has just been spotted by the folks over at GagetzArena at Zauba, the Indian import/export tracking website.

Unfortunately, aside from the mere mention of the name and the fact that it will be available in silver and gray, there are no details regarding the HTC One E8 EYE’s specs. According to the listing, the smartphone has been valued at approximately $450 (€355) outright, but this may not be the final retail price of the device.

However, since we already know the specs of two smartphones that if blend together will result in the HTC One E8 EYE, we can safely assume the unannounced smartphone will be a selfie version of the standard model.

This means that the One E8 EYE will sport the same 5-inch Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating, as well as a powerful 2.5 quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor inside.

It will also feature 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, but users will be able to further expand storage up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

The HTC One E8 EYE may only be available in a few Asian countries

The main difference between the standard model and the HTC One E8 EYE will be the camera in the front. The former is packed with a 5-megapixel camera in the front, while the latter might boast a much better 13-megapixel photo snapper.

Obviously, the unannounced smartphone will come with Eye Experience pre-installed, but that shouldn’t be a differentiator as the standard model of the One E8 has been confirmed to receive these imaging features as well.

It’s unclear why HTC has decided to launch different EYE versions of some of its high-end smartphone, even though the company has already announced the Eye Experience capabilities will be available for multiple HTC smartphones in the coming weeks.

There’s also a chance that this HTC One E8 EYE might only be available in a few Asian countries, but this speculation has yet to be confirmed, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
