HTC has decided to shed some light on its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrading plans, as the Taiwanese handset maker revealed the first wave of phones that will get the update.

Although, the list is a a bit short and comprises only new HTC phones, the company states it will continue to assess its portfolio of smartphones and hopes to deliver the Android 4.0 upgrade to more devices.

All in all, it looks like HTC confirmed that Ice Cream Sandwich will be deployed in early 2012 to the following handsets: HTC Vivid, HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL and HTC Sensation XE, HTC Rezound, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G and HTC Amaze 4G.

At first glance, it looks like the United States has gotten quite a big chunk of Ice Cream Sandwich flavor, as almost half of the phones included on the list are U.S. handsets.

However, it is surprising that none of the company's tablets will receive the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in early 2012.

In addition, none of the older HTC phones has been included in the first wave of devices that will receive the Android 4.0 operating system, which is quite understandable.

Still, it's very important for HTC to add more devices to the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade list as soon as possible, in order to avoid losing disgruntled fans who own older HTC phones.
