Australian mobile phone carrier Vodafone added two new Android-based mobile phones to its offering, namely the HTC ChaCha and the HTC Salsa Facebook phones from HTC.

The new handsets were made available for purchase in the country exclusively on the airwaves of Vodafone, and can be found on the carrier's webstore.

The HTC ChaCha was listed here for $0 upfront on the $45 Per month plan at Vodafone, with a minimum cost over 24 months of $1080.

The HTC Salsa can be found at Vodafone here, featuring the same price tag when committing to a contract agreement with the wireless carrier.

The two devices come with a dedicated Facebook button that offers users the possibility to easily share content with their friends over the social networking site.

“The HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa smartphones make it simple to stay in touch with your friends using Facebook Chat and Messages on your phone,” Vodafone explains.

“Your Facebook messages and conversations are integrated within your phone and appear within your text and email inboxes alongside your regular conversations.”

The ChaCha comes with a 2.6-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 480 x 320 pixel resolution, complemented by a QWERTY keyboard, with an 800 MHz application processor packed inside.

The mobile phone also sports a 5 megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and LED flash, along with a VGA front camera for video calling, a 1250 mAh battery inside, micro-USB, microSD memory card slot, and Google's Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS with HTC Sense on top.

The HTC Salsa sports the same 800 MHz processor, but has a 3.4-inch touchscreen that delivers a 480 x 320 resolution, without the QWERTY keyboard included into the mix. It runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with HTC Sense, and sports the same camera features as ChaCha.

“Based on the iconic HTC Legend, the HTC Salsa features a unibody design in addition to the dedicated hardware Facebook share button,” Vodafone explains.
