A beta ROM of the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform is reported to have leaked to the Web recently, and it is stated to work on devices based on HTC Blue Angel, such as O2 XDA Iis, Dopod 700, Siemens SX66, Orange SPV M2000, T-Mobile MDA III and Qtek 9090.

According to the news, the leaked OS brings along features like an updated MsTouch, Touch LockScreen, TouchRecognizer, CMHome For WM6.5PRO, IE6 [IE Mobile8.12Pro] 2009 Only for 6.5 and Live For WM6.5.

The ROM also comes with the usual HTC Blue Angel applications, including Windows Media 10.3 For ATI, USSD_Service 4.26.0.0, HTC_WPA-TKIP_Plugin, TouchImageViewer, LargeTitleBar 4_44_0, HTC_Bluetooth Explorer 1.2.33300, EnlargeStartMenu 1_2_35331_1, HTC-TaskMgr2.1.qvga, HTCBA_Camera, WiFi Workaround Service, HTCMidi 2.0, HTC_OEMExtDll 1.0.14.1, BTBPP 1_6_5_0, as well as few more.

Windows Mobile 6.5 is the next important upgrade Microsoft is expected to make to its mobile operating system. The new OS brings along some significant improvements compared to the older version, as well as a range of new features, among which a new Internet Explorer Mobile browser, namely the “IE 6 On 6,” can also be spotted.

Microsoft has been reported to plan on unveiling the new operating system at the 2009 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month. The software giant's WinMo powers a wide range of devices, including mobile phones, Pocket PCs or Portable Media Centers, as well as some on-board computers in certain automobiles.

The Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional Beta ROM has surfaced on a forum, and it is also available for download. It seems that some technical skills would be required to perform the flash upgrade of the ROM with the leaked WM 6.5 Pro Beta ROM, so you should take the necessary precautions before starting the process if you're willing to give it a try.
