While it might have seem as though HP was done with the display releases for a while, this appears to not be the case now that yet another display has appeared, slightly bigger and better than a certain predecessor.

HP may be best known for its computers, but it definitely deals in other things, like monitors, even very thin ones.

In fact, it was just about a week ago that it delivered a certain product known as Elite L2201x, essentially a very thin display (0.4 inches) with Full HD image quality.

Now, the same outfit has unveiled the 23-inch x2301, which has the same thickness of 0.4 inches and a color gamut of 72 percent.

The existing consumer market is suffering from no shortage of Full HD monitors and TVs, what with so many new panels being designed with that native resolution.

As such, learning that the screen of the Elite x2301 is of the 1,920 x 1,080 pixels variety definitely does not qualify as a shock.

The surprise, however, could stem from the fact that the monitor's very thin frame can not only cope with that resolution, but also a dynamic contrast ratio of 8,000,000:1 and a GTG (gray to gray) response time of 3ms.

Not only that, but the newcomer is built without any shred of arsenic or mercury, having earned EPEAT Silver and Energy Star 5.0 ratings.

Other specifications revealed in reports include LED backlighting (which is responsible for the energy efficiency and image brightness/clarity), a brushed aluminum bezel and multiple connectors.

More specifically, there is a DVI-D port, plus VGA and HDMI, all of them with the plug and play function, meaning that no monitor set-up will have to be made before it can be used.

There is, at the moment, no way of knowing when the product will ship and, considering its status as limited edition newcomer, it probably won't be around for long when it does.

Those that want it can take advantage of the reprieve in order to gather the $279.99 necessary to buy one.
